Retail Audit Reporting Automation

Automizing the interviews validation process

Overview:

A leading Fortune 500 FMCG client was operating with heavily fragmented reporting infrastructure, resulting in significant analyst resource expenditure and recurring data accuracy issues across multiple business units.The operations team was spending an entire workday manually validating retail audit interviews using Excel spreadsheets—a time-consuming, error-prone process hence creating substantial delays in executive reporting cycles, undermining the organisation's capacity for timely, data-driven decision-making at the leadership level.

Approach:

Designed and deployed a suite of Python-based automation pipelines fully integrated with a reporting ecosystem. The solution standardised data ingestion from Postgres database, automated scheduled reporting workflows, and delivered real-time executive dashboards accessible to C-suite stakeholders across multiple geographies.

Action:
I built my case with evidence and a working prototype:

  • I documented the exact time spent on manual validation and tracked error rates

  • I developed a Python script connected to our PostgreSQL database that automated the entire validation workflow, applying all necessary validation rules to filter raw interview data

  • I created a proof-of-concept demonstrating the process could be reduced from a full day to under 5 minutes

  • To address concerns about data freshness, I implemented scheduled workflows that ran hourly, automatically updating outputs as new field data came in

  • I presented stakeholders with time savings projections, error reduction analysis, and the working prototype.

Outcome:
The evidence was compelling—they approved immediately. The final solution achieved:

The operations team, initially skeptical, became the solution's biggest advocates. It's now standard practice across all retail audit projects, saving hundreds of hours monthly and delivering better client experiences through real-time reporting.

Automated Tag Mapping System — Internal Operations Optimisation

Client setup/onboarding process

Overview:

At FieldPro-Optimetriks, the operations team was consistently spending an estimated half a working day manually executing a critical onboarding process known as Tag Mapping — the systematic matching of workflow tags from a new client environment to align with an established client template environment. This manual approach was not only a significant drain on operational capacity but also introduced considerable risk of human error, particularly given the precision required to correctly configure new client environments at scale. As the Senior Data Analyst embedded within the team, I identified this inefficiency as a high-priority candidate for automation.

Approach:

Conducted a thorough analysis of the existing manual tag mapping workflow to fully understand its logic, dependencies, and failure points. Using this analysis as the foundation, I designed and developed a Python script that automated the entire tag mapping process by programmatically sending API requests directly to both the new client and template environments. The solution was engineered to replicate the manual process with complete accuracy, requiring minimal human intervention and integrating seamlessly into the existing operational workflow without disrupting ongoing client onboarding activities.

Outcome:

✅ Reduced tag mapping process time from half a working day to a matter of minutes

FMCG Commercial Intelligence Suite — Multi-Client Analytics Engagement

End-to-End Business Intelligence & Commercial Analytics

Overview:

Across a portfolio of Fortune 500 FMCG clients operating in highly competitive, distribution-intensive markets, a recurring challenge emerged — fragmented commercial data was preventing leadership teams from accessing timely, accurate, and actionable intelligence. Sales performance visibility was inconsistent, customer coverage tracking was largely reactive, and market trend analysis was being conducted too infrequently to meaningfully inform strategic decisions. Business units required a unified, scalable intelligence infrastructure capable of supporting real-time decision-making at both the operational and executive levels across multiple geographies simultaneously.

Approach:

Designed and delivered a comprehensive Commercial Intelligence Suite tailored to the specific reporting and analytical needs of each client environment. The engagement encompassed the full analytics lifecycle — from raw data ingestion and ETL pipeline development through to the deployment of interactive, real-time dashboards and executive-level business reporting frameworks.
